The first quarterly clinical performance indicators from six new national cancer audits have been published

10.10.24

Quarterly reports are published today across NATCAN. This includes:

The first quarterly clinical performance indicator reports for the new national cancer audits in breast cancer (primary and metastatic), ovarian, pancreatic, non-Hodgkin lymphoma and kidney cancer. These reports publish an initial subset of performance indicators alongside information on data quality and provide a local perspective on recent patterns of cancer care across England. Going forward, the teams will continue development work, in consultation with stakeholders, to determine which additional audit indicators are appropriate for quarterly reporting using rapid cancer registry data and linked, routine hospital data.

The launch of the first data dashboard for the non-Hodgkin lymphoma audit and quarterly update to the dashboard for the lung cancer audit. Hospital teams are asked to provide feedback on these dashboards which will guide the development and rollout of dashboards across all NATCAN audits.

The second quarterly data quality reports for the bowel and oesophago-gastric audits. We encourage all provider teams to review their data completeness and make improvements as required.  The first quarterly clinical performance indicator reports will be published in January 2025.

The current quarterly reports/dashboards are available here:

Thank you to all clinical and non-clinical teams at NHS Trusts in England for their ongoing routine data submissions to the National Cancer Registry Service. Your support is key to enabling us to evaluate the care that patients receive following a diagnosis of cancer and to direct attention to where improvements are needed.
